Fernheart noticed them, but pretended she didnt. Let them be happy. "That's fine by me," she replied. "Um, I'm just going to go see if I can find any mice. I'm hungry for something other than fish." She caught Leafclouds eyes. Go ahead she willed them to say. She knew she had taken Smokeclaw from her, and she deserved someone to love that would take care of her. She didnt necesarily hate Leafcloud, but she wasnt her biggest fan.

Fernheart rolled her eyes at Leafcloud and went to hunt, but staying close enough to the river that if she'd misread them and they started to argue she could hear them.

Adderpelt acted as if he hadn't heard Leafcloud and began to head back to camp. I can't be her friend, he thought. Look at the trouble ThunderClan has caused Fernheart.
