Thorn

[Solarstar]

Solarstorm padded into the medicine cats den looking to see if she could help her. She had gotten a thorn stuck underneath her claw. She had been chasing some prey when she had to skid to a stop before she ended up crossing the border. The thorn had wedged its way into the claw itself. She sat down holding her paw in mid air trying not to set it down. "Sandfeather? It's me Solarstorm! I need your help!" She called out in a mild voice so not to make the den ring with noise.

Sandfeather was in the back of her den checking on herbs and what needed to be restocked when she heard Solarstorm's voice echo in her den. She padded up to the warrior and asked, "What is it?"

[Solarstar]

Solarstorm looked up into the medicine cats eyes looking to see if she was busy. It didn't seem to look like it so she slightly held her paw up to show the she-cat. "I was hunting and I got a thorn wedged underneath my claw. I had to skid to a stop before I accidentally crossed the border." She meowed with a side smile a bit embarrassed.

Sandfeather sighed and mumbled under her breath that warrior's should be able to remove thorns from their own paws. "Hold your paw out," Sandfeather ordered. She lookde at the thorn as the warrior did so. Sandfeather stuck her teeth to the thorn and then yanked it out. "You may want to lick it," she said. "But it should be fine. Come to me if it starts to hurt again."

[Solarstar]

Solarstorm side smiled once again. "Heh. I didn't want to take it out and end up getting an infection." She admitted. Her sister had removed a thorn from her paw once and got an infection from the opening in her wound. She held up her paw and began to lick the wound clean. 'Huh, that's weird, my blood feels like it's so clean.' She thought in her mind.

Willowpelt padded int othe den slowly. "Sandfeather? Oh! Hi Solarstorm!"

[Solarstar]

Solarstorm turned to see Willowpelt padding in through the entrance of the medicine cats den. "Hi Willowpelt!" She meowed. She liked to be around the warrior. She was so kind and fun.

Willowpelt trotted in. "You ok Solarstorm? You haven't come down with the greencough right?"

[Solarstar]

The she-cat laughed a bit. "Well I've never had green cough and I don't intend on it. No I just got a thorn stuck underneath my claw." She meowed sweetly to the queen.

Willowpelt flicked her tail in relief. She looked out the entrance and into the forest. "Wow... I miss it..." She said to herself.

[Solarstar]

Solarstorm sighed, knowing what she meant. "Yeah I would understand what you mean. Having kits means you have to stay with them. But it must be all worth while." She half whispered. She then looked down at her paw to see that it wasn't blood coming out but instead water. "Um Sandfeather? Is this normal?" She asked a little worried. 'This must be why it didn't taste bitter.' She thought. She was a little weirded out.

Willowpelt looked at Solarstorm's paw in interest. "Huh! The elders say that's good luck." Willowpelt watched as the water stopped.

Sandfeather rolled her eyes and replied, "It's probably just snow that melted stuck under your claw and trapped there by the thorn, so when I pulled it out all the water gused out. Willowpelt what did you need?"

"My kits destroyed all the herbs you left. They didn't eat it but simpily ripped it up. I came here to get more." Willowpelt purred in amuzment.

Sandfeather nodded and got some more herbs for Willowpelt.
